All prices in $CAD, (I also accept $USD at par for the time being)

Honing Rate: $12  plus return shipping

My services are currently offered for Western and Japanese straight razors of all shapes, sizes, grinds and brands. This service includes the repair of minor nicks, chips and blade irregularities. Blades with SERIOUS issues may be subject to additional fees. If this is the case, you will be notified once the blade is received and inspected.

Please fill in the following form and include it with your razor(s)

~CUSTOMER FORM~

General Note: This is a hobby. I don't make any significant money from this and this is not a registered business. If I were to charge customers for the time, tools and skill needed to do this, my fees would be much higher. Bearing this in mind, my turnaround time varies and is entirely dependant and on my personal schedule, which changes daily. My fee should be considered more like a tip and is in place mostly to ensure that this service is not considered something without value. The fee should also encourage customers to take up the art of honing themselves, which advances the art. The fee, however, is low enough that beginners can afford to have a sharp blade to start with.

Terms & Conditions:
1. The final edge on the blade is a function of many factors. Poor quality steel or edges with oxidation incursions will not take or hold a quality edge. Generally I will inform you if your blade will not take a decent edge before accepting to complete the job and receive payment. Also, please understand that honing requires removal of metal to varying degrees. I will do my best to preserve the look and function of your blade, but I can't make it last forever.

2. I have many finishing hones and strops. If you have a preference, please indicate so on the customer form. If no preference is expressed, I will select the finishing method which best suits the blade.

3. I will ship the razor back tracked and insured unless you specify otherwise. I will take no risks when it comes to getting the razor back to you. This type of shipping costs from $5 to $15 within North America and even more abroad. Many customers opt for a more economical shipping method and this is fine. I am flexible in how I fill out customs forms, but keep in mind that the value declared is the amount you get back if something happens to the package.

4. Unless you are an experienced straight razor shaver, please do not do anything to the blade before shaving with it for the first time upon return. This includes stropping. Improper technique, even for a few strokes on soft leather, can ruin an edge. I strop all razors before sending them back as a final step in honing. It has never happened to me, but I have heard horror stories of beginners having a razor honed to perfection, ruining the edge when they get it, having a terrible shave and complaining the that gentleman who honed their razor did a bad job.

5. Please fill out the customer form (link above) and include it with your razor(s). Make sure to print clearly, especially the address. I require this form to avoid mutually embarassing emails and PM's asking for return addresses.

6. I currently accept the following forms of payment: Paypal, Personal or Cashier's Cheque and Canadian Money Order. I also accept cash (Canadian currency only please) for local customers. I don't suggest mailing cash and I don't accept US postal money orders (as it says right on them, they are only negotiable in the US). Please make payment in full before the razor gets to me. If you're skeptical and want to try the edge before paying then please find someone else to perform the work.

7. Volume discounts work as follows:
1-4 blades, $12 each
5-10 blades, $10 each
10+ blades, $9 each

8. I will do business with customers in any country as long as it is legal and they understand the increased postal cost, shipping risks  and time involved.

9. I offer some light restoration services as well, please enquire if interested and we can work something out. Keep in mind I generally have a waiting list.

10. I don't do dropoffs or pickups, so please do not ask. It's not that I'm antisocial, I just have a busy schedule and don't want the hassle of organizing a time that suits us both to make an exchange. Please also note, I live in a townhouse with a mailbox that is behind a locked door, so saving on shipping by dropping it off is not a good idea.
